Client Success Story - BSC - Black Swann Consulting

Project Brief

A small puppet theater was invited to provide the showcase exhibit for a national organization’s bi-annual conference. The theater, though rich in history, faced a challenge: the founders had passed away, leaving behind only boxes of records, photographs, and documents. The current owners needed a complete branding kit to honor the theater’s legacy and create a memorable exhibit.

The Challenge

  1. Preserving Legacy:
    • The theater’s history was scattered across old records, photographs, and documents, requiring significant effort to organize and curate.
  2. Creating a Cohesive Brand:
    • The theater lacked a modern branding kit, including a website, booth display, and other materials.
  3. Showcasing Productions:
    • Each production needed to be highlighted in a way that celebrated the creativity and artistry of the theater’s work.
  4. Engaging the Audience:
    • The exhibit needed to captivate conference attendees, many of whom were unfamiliar with the theater’s legacy.

The Solution

To address these challenges, we developed a comprehensive strategy:

  1. Archival Research and Organization:
    • Sorted through the boxes of records, photographs, and documents to uncover key pieces of the theater’s history.
    • Digitized and restored old photographs and documents for use in the branding materials.
  2. Branding Kit Creation:
    • Designed a modern logo and cohesive branding elements inspired by the theater’s legacy.
    • Built a professional website showcasing the theater’s history, productions, and mission.
    • Created a wiki page to serve as a public resource documenting the theater’s contributions to the art form.
  3. Exhibit Design:
    • Developed a visually striking booth display, incorporating large-scale images, vibrant colors, and interactive elements.
    • Designed individual displays for each production, featuring costumes, puppets, photographs, and behind-the-scenes insights.
  4. Interactive Features:
    • Included QR codes at the exhibit, linking attendees to additional content on the website and wiki page.
    • Created a video montage of past productions, played on a loop at the booth.
  5. Storytelling:
    • Wove the theater’s story into all materials, emphasizing the founders’ vision and the current owners’ dedication to preserving their legacy.

Results

  1. A Stunning Exhibit:
    • The booth became the centerpiece of the conference, drawing attendees with its vibrant design and engaging content.
  2. Revived Legacy:
    • The branding kit and website breathed new life into the theater’s legacy, making it accessible to a wider audience.
  3. Increased Awareness:
    • The wiki page and digital content introduced the theater to a global audience, sparking interest in its history and productions.
  4. Audience Engagement:
    • Conference attendees were captivated by the displays, with many expressing admiration for the theater’s artistry and history.

Conclusion

Through meticulous research, creative branding, and thoughtful design, the puppet theater successfully showcased its legacy at the national conference. The project not only honored the theater’s founders but also positioned it for continued success and recognition in the future.
